DAY 1 CAIRNS – CAPE TRIBULATION (LD)
After an early morning pick up from your accommodation your adventure begins. Travelling north along Marlin Coast, we stop off at Hartleys Crocodile Adventures. Here you will enjoy an informative introduction to the flora and fauna, you may encountere in the Cape. After crossing the Daintree Ferry, we spend time exploring the wonders of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Our accommodation tonight is at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge. (ensuite facilities)
DAY 2 CAPE TRIBULATION – COOKTOWN (BLD)
After an early morning pick up from your accommodation your adventure begins. Travelling north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Then making our way along the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track, stopping off at the unique Lion's Den Hotel, and the mysterious Black Mountain, arriving at the old gold port of Cooktown. Visit Captain Cooks Landing and Grassy Hill Lookout. Overnight accommodation the Sovereign Resort in Cooktown. (ensuite facilities)
DAY 3 COOKTOWN - LAKEFIELD N.P. - LOTUS BIRD LODGE (BLD)
Heading west into the outback, we travel over the legendary Battle Camp Range to the Old Laura Homestead and Lakefield National Park (road conditions permitted). An amalgamation of 3 huge cattle stations, now a haven for the many birds and animals native to this area. Lagoons, billabongs, and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. The afternoon finds us arriving at Lotus Bird Lodge, set amongst shady eucalypts along the inner bank of a large horseshoe shaped billabong. The local environment ranges from open Eucalypt woodland and gallery forests, to grassy plains, marshlands, creeks and lagoons, providing the ideal habitat for over 200 species of birds. DAY 4 LOTUS BIRD LODGE - COEN – ARCHER RIVER – WEIPA (BLD)
After a leisurely morning, we continue north stopping off at the historic frontier gold town of Coen and the picturesque Archer River, before making our way to the bauxite-mining town of Weipa. Enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria. Accommodation tonight at the Heritage Resort in Weipa (ensuite facilities)
DAY 5 WEIPA – BRAMWELL STATION (BLD)
This morning you may wish to take an informative tour of the Weipa mining operation (own expense) or just relax by the pool. After lunch, we head for our overnight stay at a true blue Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station. (shared facilities)
DAY 6 BRAMWELL - FRUIT BAT FALLS – BAMAGA (BLD)
After an early start, we head north travelling along part of the Old Telegraph Track to arrive at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim, and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfall. Then northwards across the Jardine River, to arrive at Cape York! We will be staying at the Bamaga Resort for the next 2 nights. (ensuite facilities)
DAY 7 CAPE YORK - SOMERSET (BLD)
An unforgettable day! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia. We visit Somerset (road conditions permitting), once the home of the legendary Jardine family and lunch on palm fringed Anchorage Beach which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach completes your day before returning to base.(ensuite facilities)
DAY 8 SEISIA - THURSDAY ISLAND - CAIRNS (B)
An early morning departure as we cruise through island studded straits to explore our northern community, Thursday Island. Here you will be taken on a informative guided bus tour of the island and its picturesque Harbour, once home to the romantic pearl lugger fleet. Then board your plane at Horn Island for a scenic flight back to Cairns. ETA to be advised. Tour finishes at Cairns airport.
OPTIONAL DAY 9
THURSDAY ISLAND - HORN ISLAND - CAIRNS (D, B, L)
You will have the option to stay an extra day at Horn Island. Dinner included on day 7. This day includes a tour of Horn Island, entry to the Torres Strait Heritage Museum. You will stay the night at the Gateway Torres Strait Resort at Horn Island. Late afternoon you board your plane at Horn Island for a scenic flight back to Cairns. ETA to be advised.
