DAY 1 CAIRNS - CHILLAGOE (LD)

After an early morning pick-up from your accommodation, your holiday begins. Over the Great Dividing Range to Dimbulah, then on to Tyrconnell, for an informative guided tour of the restored Tyrconnell gold mine. Before travelling on to our overnight stay at Chillagoe Eco Lodge and campground.

DAY 2 CHILLAGOE - UNDARA LAVA TUBES (BLD)

This morning we explore one of the impressive Limestone Caves, the old Chillagoe Smelter, and the Balancing Rock. Travelling on the Ootan track to Undara Lava Lodge & Campground, for our overnight stay.

DAY 3 UNDARA - COBBOLD GORGE (BLD)

After a good Aussie Bush-Breakfast, an experienced Savannah Guide will meet you for an informative tour of the world's largest, longest and most accessible lava tube system. This afternoon you board the Savannahlander at Mt. Surprise for a historic train journey to Forsayth. After disembarking the Savannahlander, we travel on to Cobbold Gorge, where we stay for the next 2 nights.

DAY 4 COBBOLD GORGE (BLD)

We start the day with an informative tour of Cobbold Gorge with a Savannah Guide. A boat cruise allows us to experience the uniqueness of this gorge. After lunch at the gorge, we climb the majestic sandstone cliffs for a spectacular view of the gorge from above, before returning to base.

DAY 5 COBBOLD GORGE - KARUMBA (BLD)

Travelling west, we pass the old gold towns of Georgetown and Croydon. Travelling on to Critter's Camp for another historic train journey on the Gulflander train to Critters Camp. Then on to Karumba. This evening finds us wining and dining on the beach as we watch the splendid sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

DAY 6 KARUMBA - LAWN HILL NATIONAL PARK(BLD)

An early start provides excellent opportunities to see the wildlife of the Gulf Savannah. Across the "Plains of Promise", stopping off at Burke and Wills' most northern campsite #119, Leichhardt Falls, and Burketown before arriving at Adel's Grove, on the edge of Lawn Hill National Park, our overnight stay for the next two nights.

DAY 7 LAWN HILL NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

A day to relax in the clear waterways of Lawn Hill Gorge with plenty of opportunity for canoeing (own expense) and bush walking to view the gorge sandstone formations. Lawn Hill is an oasis in this Gulf Wilderness, a haven for bird life. It will leave you captivated by its beauty and tranquillity. Overnight at Adel's Grove.

DAY 8 LAWN HILL NATIONAL PARK - HELL'S GATE (BLD)

Another great day as we travel along the outback station tracks, stopping off at Kingfisher Camp for lunch, before we head to Hell's Gate Road House, our overnight stay.

DAY 9 HELL'S GATE - CAPE CRAWFORD (BLD)

Heading west we leave Queensland behind and cross into the Northern Territory. Stopping off at Borroloola and numerous creeks and billabongs, before arriving at Cape Crawford and the Heartbreak Hotel and campground, where we stay tonight.

DAY 10 CAPE CRAWFORD - MATARANKA (BLD)

This morning you have the option to take a helicopter flight (own expense) and join us on a guided walk through the ancient sandstone karsts of the mysterious "Lost City", then onto Daly Waters, Elsey Cemetery (we of the never never) and Mataranka Hot Springs, where we can enjoy a relaxing swim in the crystal clear thermal pool. We stay at Mataranka Homestead and campground.

DAY 11 MATARANKA - KATHERINE (BLD)

Today, we travel on to Katherine. The afternoon you have the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable cruise on Katherine Gorge.

DAY 12 KATHERINE - KAKADU NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

Continuing on past Pine Creek and into Kakadu National Park for a swim in Maguk. Time for some walks, before continuing on to Jabiru or Cooinda for the next 2 to nights.

DAY 13 KAKADU NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

This morning we visit Nourlangie Rock and the Bowali Visitor Centre. Take a scenic flight over Kakadu National Park (own expense). Enjoy a fascinating Sunset Cruise on the Yellow Waters Billabong, a haven to the many birds, animals, and the saltwater crocodiles.

DAY 14 KAKADU - DARWIN (BL)

Visit Ubirr, to view the dreamtime legends depicted in its galleries of rock art and the spectacular scenery over the East Alligator River flood plains Traveling north to Darwin, brings an end to your adventure. Tonight we stay at the Mirambeena Resort Darwin.

DAY 15 DARWIN (B)

The final day has unfortunately arrived. After breakfast, we bid farewell to our new made friends.
