WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
GOODS & SERVICES TAX (GST)
As a result of the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax on 1 July 2000, some prices
included in this brochure may be subject to change on or after that date. Persons
intending to purchase any of the advertised services for use on or after 1 July 2000
should confirm the likely prices with the relevant service provider.
HOW TO BOOK
Bookings can only be made direct through Heritage Tours, a licensed travel agent and member of the Travel Compensation Fund.
DEPOSIT
A deposit of $ 300.00 per person together with completed booking form is required within 7 days of the booking to ensure confirmation. The payment of deposit by and/or on behalf of any person constitutes the full agreement with and the acceptance of the terms and conditions as set forth on this website and in our brochure.
FINAL PAYMENT
Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. Whilst prices could be subject to change
without notice, upon final payment, all tour fares are fixed and not subject to change.
For tours departing in less than 60 days, full and immediate payment is required. Fares
are shown in Australian currency.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
All fares include meals as per itinerary code: (B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch and (D) Dinner.
All camping and accommodation costs and entrance fees as per itinerary.
Twin share tents and foam mattresses are provided to all passengers on camping safaris.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
Accommodation, meals, fares en route from home cities. Meals, unless specifically
mentioned on day to day itinerary, sleeping bags and pillows, any personal items such as
drinks, newspapers, telephone, laundry, souvenirs, personal and holiday insurance. Fuel and carbon tax levy may apply.
HOW YOU WILL TRAVEL
Modern air-conditioned 24 seat 4WD safari vehicles with comfortable forward facing seats, PA
system, and portable satellite phone for your safety and peace of mind.
New Features: On Board Toilets, Road Cam and TV On the Gulf Savannah Tours you will travel in a 13 seater safari vehicle and this vehicle does not have a toilet on board.
CLOTHING AND WHAT TO BRING
Casual gear is a must. You will need minimal changes of clothing. T-shirts, jeans, shorts,
bathers, bath and hand towel, a pair of rubber soled shoes or joggers, a warm jumper or
jacket, hat, torch, insect repellent and toiletries. A track suit is
most useful, too. On Camping safaris you will need a sleeping bag, sheet, and a pillow.
SMOKING
As per Government Regulations, smoking is not permitted in vehicles. Ample stops provide
time for "smoking breaks" en route.
TRANSFER OF TOUR DATES
Should you wish to transfer to another of our tours, a handling fee of $15 may be charged,
but no cancellation fee applies unless within full payment period.
UNUSED TOUR SECTORS
If a passenger fails to join a tour/safari or joins in after departure, or leaves it prior
to completion, no refunds can be made. No refunds will be made in respect of any part of
the tour including food, excursions, accommodation, etc., that are not used or undertaken.
CONCESSIONS AND CHILD FARES
Children 14 years of age and under, on all overland camping safaris 10% off adult fare.
Children 11 years of age and under, on all overland camping safaris 15% off adult fare. No child fares on sea / land safaris. Child fares on accommodated safaris on application.
INSURANCE
Heritage Tours and/or its agents are not responsible or liable for loss or damage or theft
of luggage or personal belongings whatsoever or for personal injury, accidents,
hospitalisation, illness or medical expenses. Most claims arise from personal or
close-family illness before holiday departure, resulting in cancellation charges. We
strongly recommend all intending passengers consult their travel or insurance agent and
take out adequate travel insurance to cover any event and give full travel protection.
CANCELLATION FEES
Bookings cancelled more than 60 days prior to departure; loss of deposit;
Cancellation between 60-30 days - 25% of fare forfeited;
Cancellation between 30-14 days - 50% of fare forfeited;
Cancellation less than 14 days - full fare forfeited.
ACCOMMODATION IN CAIRNS FOR CAPE YORK TOURS
Upon final payment, please confirm your accommodation with head office by phoning 07 4054 7750. Our head office will contact the reception of your Cairns accommodation ONE day prior to tour departure to confirm your pick up time, when applicable. Heritage Tours will pick up from Cairns CBD hotel accommodation on tours that include accommodation transfers. A pick up and drop off point needs to be advised at the latest 2 weeks prior to departure, otherwise a suitable meeting location will be organized by our head office. Please note not all tours include accommodation transfers.
ACCOMMODATION BEFORE AND AFTER KIMBERLEY TOURS
Pick ups for the Kimberley Tours start from 6.30AM, please be ready by 6.30AM and out the front of your accommodation.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Due to the nature of the trip, it is not recommended for young
children.
The operator, being Heritage Safaris, reserves the right to alter the itinerary and
location of campsites and accommodation, if necessitated by weather conditions or by any other unforeseen
circumstances prevailing at the time of the trip. The operator also has the right to
substitute vehicles or an alternative operator, transport, and carrier.
The operator is unable to guarantee exact arrival and departure times and is not liable
for failure to make connections with other services or for any expenses incurred by the
client as a result of weather conditions, mechanical defects, or any other unforeseen
cause. If for any reason, the itinerary is altered, no refund is payable by the operator.
The operator reserves the right without payment or compensation, and whether before or
after commencement of travel, to exclude any passenger, if that passenger may appear
likely to endanger the health or safety or impair the comfort of other passengers and may
be asked to leave the safari immediately, should he/she commit any illegal act.
LIABILITY
The operator and its employees accept no responsibility for any booking, contract, travel,
accommodation or safaris which result in any loss, damage, accident, diversion, or theft
in regard to luggage or personal belongings, and will be exempt from all liability in
respect of direct or indirect consequential loss or damage, death, injury, sickness,
irregularity, delay liability, and additional expenses, or inconvenience or any other
event beyond its control including accident, failure of machinery or equipment,
accommodation, transport, or other services.
AIRLINE INDEMNITY
Airline involvement in these tours is as air carrier only. Airlines carry no
responsibility for statements in this brochure relating to ground content of these tours
and the operator indemnifies them against any claim, action, loss, or damage arising
therefrom.
LUGGAGE
Luggage space is VERY LIMITED , please restrict your luggage to one small soft carry bag, or overnight bag no bigger than 300mm x
300mm x 700mm which should not exceed 10 kilograms. One piece of hand luggage (the size of an airline bag) is advisable for every day use. Don't
forget your camera. Campers sleeping bag and pillow can be packed seperately. No hard suitcases or bags with wheels please/ Any excess luggage can usually be stored at your hotel, or if your post safari accommodation differs, please arrange for your excess luggage to be transferred to your post safari accommodation.
LUGGAGE CHECKLIST

(You may be asked to transfer your luggage into different bags)It is requested that all passengers bring a soft bag, no suitcases with wheels, or hard body cases, as they never look the same again, and they can damage others. An overnight bag is perfect or a smaller type duffle-bag. We have found that backpacks with external frames are difficult to stow. Airlines also have luggage restrictions of 1 piece per person policy.
